Wicked by Angry Woebots WIP

Picked up from the Angry Woebots FB page, are sculpt progress pics of his next work, Wicked.  Based on everyone favorite Ewok, this bust clearly showcases the darker side.  The sculpt looks amazing with astounding detail work on the fur and expression!  I can't wait to see the finished product! Wicket and the Ewoks are a favorite part of the Star Wars universe for me.  If these were the furry fighting force of Return of the Jedi, the Storm Trooper defeat at the hands of this diminutive furry race would have been a lot easier pill to swallow.  More Wicked new to come as it breaks! Yub Nub!

Iron horse Cinema makes The Last of Us Fan Film

Created by Iron Horse Cinema, this fan film pays tribute to the great PS3 title, The Last of Us.  The game is set in a future where the world we know has crumbled due to a horrible fungal infection, replaced with warring factions fighting to survive, others to find a cure and  rebuild.  The film recreates some of the touching dialogue and thrilling scenes that unfold through cut-scenes in the game.  For those of you that have played and completed the came, it's great to see a film take on what is arguably one of the best story and game ever made!  Enjoy!

Alien ReAction by Super7 Preorders begin August 1st

Preorders begin this Thursday August 1st for the pseudo resurrected Alien figures by Super7, The story goes that Super7 managed to get ahold of prototype Alien figures originally made to be released in concert with the original 1979 movie that never saw production.

From the Super7 website:

In 1979, prototypes for 3 ¾” action figures for the ALIEN film were developed but never manufactured. Through our network of industry and collector contacts, Super7 has unearthed reference material and original 34-year-old prototypes and will now make these “lost toys” a reality. 

Under authorization from 20th Century Fox, Super7 will produce the full series of ALIEN toys as part of our ReAction Figure Series (Retro-Action). Each is stylized exactly as items from the “golden age” of action figures with approximately five points of articulation, accessories, and period-authentic blister card packaging.

Task One's Pillaging Pop Culture Series 2 out now!

Task One is back again with with his Pillaging Pop Culture Series 2, #bearsgonebad  This time he takes on the 80's icons, The Care Bears. Each 3" figure in the blind boxed custom resin figure set have an equal 1/12 ratio. However Tobacco Bear will have different cigarette pack on his tum-tum for those variant chasers. Prices at $25 each of $300 for a full set, these funny little guys are available now in the series section of the We Are Not Toys collective website 

Medicom reveals their Wonder Festival lineup

Medicom Toy has unveiled their offering at this years Wonder Festival 2013. The one day event will, see Medicom featuring kanjis, BE@rbricks, and Evangelion in the RAH line. I'm interested in seeing their full DC lineup since I'm on a big DC Comics kick at the moment.

Full Reveal of 1/6 General Zod

Hot Toys has revealed their prototype of 1/6 General Zod at ACGHK 2013. Played by the amazing Michael Shannon in the 2013 film, Man of Steel, we see the General in his full battle armour, complete with helmet and his atmospheric breathing filter apparatuses. Hopefully there will be an un-helmeted headsculpt included in the final product along with the cape switched out to the feathered/fur cape from the film.  Regardless, Zod is a personal standout of this year's con and will no doubt be a must have for fans of the movie, myself included. The General will look great next to the upcoming Superman and is definitely on my wish list !

The Walking Dead by ThreeZero

ThreeZero has announced their newest collaboration with AMC's The Walking Dead. 1/6 scale figures of Merle (played by Michael Rooker) and Michonne's "Pets" have been displayed. I'm quite excited for these as the walker sculpts look quite grotesque and amazingly detailed!

Hot Toys has revealed their previously teased ACGHK figure and it's nine over than late Brandon Lee as for. The 1994 film, The Crow! Originally created as a graphic novel by James O'Barr, it was adapted to film. Inspiring goth wardrobes and Halloween costumes for years to come. Available for preorder at the ACGHK event from July 26-July 30th. An exclusive weather vane accessory will be available with preorders. Listed retail price is HK 1380 (approx $178 USD)

Hot Toys Teases new figures at HKACG

Fresh from SDCC, Hot Toys will be setting up a new booth at HKACG and they've already started the buzz machine with 2 teasers.  The first being another IM3 Tony Stark, this time it's Tony Stark (Mandarin Mansion Assault Version).  Think what you will, but Hot Toys is definitely getting it while the gettin's good!

In other news Hot Toys is also teasing an unnamed new figure. Based in the picture, I'm speculating on Brandon Lee as The Crow. Regardless of the speculation, I'm definitely looking forward to the full reveal!

The 3rd Annual Designer Toy Awards Finalists!

Announced by Sucklord himself are the finalists for the 3rd Annual Designer Toy Awards.  This year's nominees, range from best Collaboration to Best 1/6th scale, with winners  selected by the DTA Board and announced at NYCC on October 12, 2013

Ah, the Designer Toy Awards.  The who's who of elite designer toy makers of the last year! These lists served as my own launch pad to seek out fresh faced new designers.  This year holds perennial nominees such as Hot Toys, ThreeA, Huck Gee, Coarse and more.  I love that it's driven by fans vs sales numbers!
