Siercon and Coral's Lego Crossbow!

Let's be honest, there are a lot of Lego contructs out there.  Lots.  Some better than others.  While I'm sure there are many more elaborate designs of all sorts, with the Walking Dead's season premier looming, we have a design near and dear to this TWD fan; The Crossbow!  Designed by Siercon and Coral, this snake-headed killer is fuctional, and according to an interview with the Lego builders, this bad boy shoots approximately 40 feet, took about 1700 pieces, and influences by Halo, and snakes!   It took about a week to design and a few days to build

Still don't believe it? Check out the video below!

Ukiyo-e Heroes! by Jed Henry

Fox Moon

Ukiyo-e heroes!  I remember when this was nothing more than a dream, a few circulated internet pics.  Then it became a kickstarter project and blossomed to it's current incarnation!  These wood block prints, created by Ked Henry and inspired by classic video games of generations past are ingenious in their designs and beautiful in their execution. I'm quite partial to japanese wood block print art, especially the works of Tsukioka Yoshitoshi and Katsushika Hokusai. These are absolutely amazing and would be a great gift for any video game fan!

I must admit, There's a few I want adorning my own home, but with only so many walls in my house, I must show restraint! Regardless, CBT's favorites are Trouble's Afoot, and Fox Moon. What are yours?

Blue Storm

Pocketing a Wager

Swift Kill

Trouble Afoot

And now for something we hope you'll really like...

Rocky and Bullwinkle.  That cartoon duo has been engrained in our collective consciousness, with it's mix of witty stories and charming characters!  I can remember many days spent enjoying the misadventures of Rocky and Bulwinkle, Dudly Do-Right foiling Snidely Whiplash's schemes, and Mr Peabody and Sherman's Wayback Machine adventures, and of course, Boris Badenov and Natasha! Now we can relive those days in plushy style!  Created by Comic Images and available at many retailers including Big Bad Toy Store, these cute plushy friends are going for $10 apiece!  My personal fave are the Moose and Squirrel themselves!  Which are your faves?

-from BBTS
To celebrate the release of the film, Comic Images is offering six of the classic Rocky & Friends characters in their unique 7" Super Deformed Plush format.

Whether you are new to Rocky & Friends or a long time fan, Rocky & Friends set the tone for a unique brand of humor that is present in today's animated shows.

This classic line includes:
-Rocket J. Squirrel and his best friend Bullwinkle J. Moose.
-Boris and Natasha, the bumbling Russian spies.
-Mr. Peabody, the world's smartest inhabitant, and his pet boy Sherman who use the WABAC machine to go back in time to "intervene" with history to insure that events go on as planned!

Submitted for support down at the Lego CUUSO project we have the next 80's inspired collection from your favorite adventuring friendship flick.. THE GOONIES! Based on these concept shots this would be an epic set with plenty of future potential. I can see it now! The boulder booby trap scene!  One Eyed Willy's ship complete with treasure room and octopus!  I'm at a loss for a fitting reference to the movie. My head is literally swimming with lines from the movie!

Scott Tolleson's Dunny Evolved Plant Stages

I have to admit, I wasn't sure where Scott Tolleson was going with this design. It with this latest reveal, it all comes clear. The subtle lotus design and it's evolution into the next stages is beautiful. I'm quite interested to see the final stage and where Scott will takes us on this plant evolution.

To Arms! Here come the Ewoking Dead yub-nub!

Awesome.  Is there really anything more to say on this?

Created by Killer Bootlegs, these undead denizens of the forest moon of Endor are flocked resin action figures with hand-sewn cloaks. It almost goes without saying how awesome and hilarious this is.  Be ready to run, shove and beg for this one... priced at $80.00 and limited to 50 carded copies, with card back designed by Luke Yates.  Oh yeah.. it's also a NYCC exclusive... so those lucky con attendees keep your eyes peeled on Tenacious Toys' booth #208!

Coarse Dark Sorrows - Nightshade version

Coarse is back with a Nightshade verison of their previous work Dark Sorrows.  This piece is going to be special, coming in as a 1:1 scale replica of the original sculpture created by Mark Landwehr and Sven Waschk for their Chicago solo Exhibition "Souls Gone Mad" at Rotofugi gallery.

This second and final edition comes in all new desaturated natural tones. The statue is contained in a screen-printed wooden box and securely encased in black sponge. Each figure comes with a signed and numbered certificate!  As always, Coarse has imbued their piece with their signature slick clean lines and infused it with their strange eye catching melancholy. This one is going to be a head turner for sure.  If I may play 'art critique' for a i minute, I feel it evokes a sad feeling, lamenting the gradual and continual loss of the animal worl to human expansion, and in this unending expansion, we end up losing our own 'natural instincts' and in effect, our own souls....  I also like the purple box.

What do you think?

- from Coarse's newsletter

Something moves in the moonlight.A beast, Fever thinks. He is paralysed and shaken, frozen in place. From his spot in the middle of the woods, he can see long ears and a longer snout, eyes dark like wells dug too deep. The creature stands still, lurking against the darkness of a tree trunk. He is waiting for me, Fever thinks.

In an instant, a breeze descends upon the forest and turns the demon head to face him. Fever holds back a scream as the impossible reveals itself: the beast has no neck, no body, nothing beneath its hovering head.

Fever knows he should go the other way, but he inches towards it, scanning the forest floor for the remains of the creature and any signs of the phantom body that keeps it floating in the air.

Another breeze pushes through the woods, but this one is stronger. The trees above waver in unison, shedding for a moment enough moonlight for Fever to see what levitates before him: not a monster at all, but a mask, it seems, hanging from a low branch.

Fever sighs, relieved, and reaches up to the head to inspect it. He tries pulling it down and the branch snaps off, the mask falling to the ground. Fever kneels down to pick it up and instinctively sets it on his head, the weight of it slightly sinking his hands into the mud.

He expects to see only darkness, or that perhaps there will be slits through which he can peer. Maybe he can wear the mask to ward off the bad omens. He can be the forest’s resident scarecrow.

But when the mask is over his head, Fever sees something. Something moving. At first it is blurry, but slowly it comes into focus. There is water, and a girl, and two large hands gripping oars, rowing. At first he thinks he is dreaming things up, so he removes the mask and shakes his head, but when he puts it back on again, the scene is the same. The boat is moving slowly through the water. And what is that? That in the distance? It looks like a forest. Could it be this forest? Fever can see a dock jutting out from the coastline.

He tries to move his head around to see what is behind him—what the boat is sailing towards—but the mask will only show him what it wants to show him. Whoever’s eyes Fever is in controls what he sees.

Suddenly, the girl in the boat looks up, and Fever nearly falls backwards when he sees her face. It is his sister staring up at him. It is Ruth crouching in the boat. Fever wonders how she got here in this forest in his dream. He wonders if she is staring into the same mask he is wearing, if she can see him through those dead and dreadful eyes.

Ruth begins to cry, and Fever tries to reach out his hands to console her, but the hands of the beast keep rowing forward, unaware of Fever’s attempts.

I must find her, Fever thinks, shuddering at the idea of any creature who would wear this mask in the darkness of the night.

Otto Bjornik's World War D

Here's a new artist whose work I've never seen before,Otto Björnik.  Making circles around the blogosphere is his series of custom dunnies, World War D.  This series features a crisp black and white color tone with a touch of grey camo.  What's remarkable are the ultra clean and crisp lines, and as those amazingly lifelike eyes, especially when considering they're on the 3" sized figures! Dunny Evolved by Scott Tolleson

Posted on Kidrobot's site, Scott Tolleson's designs for the Dunny Evolved line has been revealed on their official Facebook page.  I'm going to be honest and here and state that I have no fucking clue what the hell this is.  However, I do like it. It has a sort of Asian lion feel. The second interesting piece is that there is only one silhouette on this teaser vs 2 on the previous Kozik, KRONK, and Huck Gee reveals. Ethereal and mystical combine here in light colors to create what may be a magical series of evolutionary stages.

Man of Steel by Mondo x Martin Ansin

Back in June, a little movie called "Man of Steel" hit theatres. Some of you have heard of it. During the media marketing blitz, I came across shots of this poster. I only briefly glanced at them, as I assumed it was just an image a digital graphic artist had released. Little did I know it was a limited edition poster.  Created by the amazingly talented Martin Ansin, this print comes in two variants, the second being made of metal.

I should have paid closer attention because I ended up missing out on this release, and had to find it on the secondary market. I'm extremely excited to say, I've finally obtained a copy! Needless to say, I'll be paying closer attention to Mondo's releases from here on out.

Huck Gee reveals Kikio's Courier Sevice

Huck Gee has taken wraps off his next set and it's a doozie!  Titled 'Kokio's Courier Service' this is Huck's most complex, detailed set to date. This massive set will arrive packaged in a hand assembled and laser etched wooden box and then packed into a shipper.  I really appreciate the little details in this piece; namely the bunny hat, twine accents, weapons, sleeping roll, and switches on the car dashboard. I wonder if the steering wheel works?

Don't expect to get this one for cheap tho.  Limited to 10 pieces, Kokio is priced at $3500 apiece!! I think the only thing more astounding is that this will still sell out super quick!

-from Huck Gee's newsletter

Well, over 9 months later, here she is... Kokio.

"When you need speed, skills, discretion and the best simply isn't good enough. When your  job requires a minimum of questions, had to be there yesterday and your life may or may not be riding upon that fact. When you need a bad ass motherfucking wasteland rat wearing giant pink bunny ears waving around a samurai sword in a bagged all wheel drive desert buggy... you call Kokio's Delivery Service.

Kokio will personally meet you in a ramshackle wasteland tavern to discuss any necessary details over the establishment's din of whores, bikers and a piano player. She will then ask no impertinent questions and will offer her 100% satisfaction guaranteed delivery to the time and place of your choosing. She will carefully pack your fragile contents into an Albatross Secure Seal Case™ and strap it into her air stabilized Desert Rat 1200. And if you are at all concerned about the Northern Wastes most notorious motorcycle gang that you pissed off back in Old Hoots Crossing getting a hint that this delivery is in fact one of the last remaining copies of 'Hell On Wheels' season 3? Well Kokio can take care of that too."

This has been one long and complicated journey. I've tested new techniques, pushed my own personal limits and invested an ungodly amount of time, money and resources into this. While I knew it was going to be a large endeavor when I started, I didn't quite foresee exactly just how much time and resources this was going to consume. And as it currently sits, Kokio's Courier Service is now my most complex and detailed set to date, and it is huge.

Kokio's Courier Service will be signed, numbered, include all shown accessories and comes padded and packaged in its own hand assembled and laser etched wooden box and then boxed within another shipping box. Due to the nature of the materials, some differences should be expected in each figure. Also, due to the amount of work and materials involved in creating these, the turnaround time on delivering this piece will be 5-6 weeks.

Only 10 will be produced, $3500 each.

Kokio will be my final set for 2013.

These will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Anyone interested, please email sales@huckgee.com ASAP to reserve your figure and make payment arrangements.

Dunny Evolved : Huck Gee 2

Revealed on the kidrobot blog, is their next stage of Huck Gee's evolutionary set. Following up his previous teaser, we have the next evolution in his apparent law enforcement theme. I'm a fan of the crisp lines on his work, and this is no exception!  Dunny Evolved is shaping up to be quite a line!

The Way Back by Alison Woodward

Alison Woodward has put together something... fantasitically macabre.  Her very first art multiple, "The Way Back," released by Von Zos. This piece is amazing in it's grotesque fantasy and detail. The piece consists of a complex, three-dimensional, free-standing statuary constructed from individual pieces of printed 24 pt cardstock. The piece is precision laser-cut and stands approximately five inches tall by seven inches wide when fully assembled. The pieces come housed in a custom-made foam enclosure within a box which itself is an extension of the free-standing piece as the box’s exterior artwork echoes the art and themes of the statuary inside.Additionally, each piece comes with a specially produced wishbone charm.  The Way Back is produced in a limited edition of 20 and is signed and numbered by the artist.

Dunny Evolved teasers continued ... With Huck Gee

Here we go.  Kidrobot has teased the latest design in their Dunny Evolved line. Revealing one  of three stages designed by artist, Huck Gee. This series might be an evolution of some kind of police or military force? At least that's what we're guessing here at CBT, based on the teaser and the silhouettes. So far, I'm really liking the KRONK series best, but they're all great! I'm sure there'll be more teasers and updated up until the Ocotoboer 10th release date. What do you think of the Huck Gee designs?

Angry Woebots OG Panda King Chopper Head

Angry Woebots has a new work, the OG Panda King Chopper Head! Teased by Silent Stage, this is a special one indeed! This incarnation of my favorite angry panda is 14" tall, chin to crown and an extremely short run. 6 pieces wall be made, each hand panted by the legend himself.
