A while back, Coarse released on of their more popular sets, Souls gone Mad. Included in the set were 'the Omens', little owls mean to to accompany Fever I was unsure about the entire set, and in my hesitation, I missed out on any one of the Omens. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, Coarse released some unsold, emergency stock from a couple of their previous releases, including Souls Gone Mad. Fortunately, I discovered this unannounced sale with a handful of minutes to spare and jumped on my second opportunity to get one of these cut little hooters. Made entirely of vinyl and standing 7 inches tall, this doe-eyed bird of prey is limited to 345 and clocks in at a mere $74. A coarse figure for less than $100! Sure it doesn't glow in the dark like some of the later releases, but it's still awesome!
Next up is Coarse's Locks. Previously shown during their 2012 exhibition, "souls gone mad", this pair of creatures are sculpted by Mark Landwehr Sven Waschk as per usual. Looking like a sort of hedgehog-gorilla creature, Kiddo and I instantly were drawn to this pair. The sleek, crisp lines of the sculpt,
particularly around the head, and the flowing locks create an almost speeding Sonic the Hedgehog quality. Their giant hands, vaulting small bodies, and even smaller feet and legs work to create a vision sense of graceful strength, and power that almost transfixing.
I know what you collectors are thinking.. "You're 8 months late". Well, I received notice the Omen was shipping out, and thought it would be a good time to post about this pair. Also, here at the CBT living room, Kiddo can't wait for these to arrive!
