Hot Toys Space Captain Harlock

Kyaputen Hārokku! Just announced by Hot Toys, and right in time for the Japanese CG film, Space Captain Harlock in his spacey-captainy-glory.  Based on the venerable anime character, this iteration is designed off his newest incarnation in his 2013 film.  This all new figure carries an amazing level of detail. The outfit is embellished with studs, and the cape is quite nice with a leather like sheen and finish. I quite like the Entire set; the sculpt is reminiscent of them one style of the 70's and 80's with the long flowing locks, and skinny legs.

The daring Space Captain comes complete with 3 pairs of hands, sword, pistol, and stand. In a bonus twist, there will be a second version available that also includes the Throne of Arcadia! Hurry and preorder yours soon! I think the Throne version. Will go quickly.

Kneel Before Hot Toys' General Zod

Kneel !!!

After some speculation and a few leaked convention photos of rather bootleg quality, Hot Toys has officially announced their 1/6 scale Man of Steel, General Zod figure!  Posted in their General Zod album on their Facebook page the update arrived unceremoniously last night.  This nerd of doesn't get too excited nowadays but news of this release has me giddy with anticipation!  I loved Man of Steel, and Michael Shannon's scenery chewing portrayal of the might General was one of many favourite parts.

The head sculpt, with Michael Shannon's terrifying grimace, is spot on with the boiling rage of the character. Either boiling rage, or major constipation, you choose. Either way I'd be pissed too. From the scars and moles to his wrinkles and teeth, this is a tremendous piece of work.

All is not sunshine and roses. Everyone's favourite Hong Kong toymakers have gone a little slim on the accessories. A switch out armoured head, 3 pairs of hands and a stand. Oh and what appears to be a removable cape. Come the fuck on. I get that the suit is well sculpted, but the accessory count is still pretty lame. I'd let it slide if the armour were removable to show off Zod's black version of the super onesie, or if the cape were that feathery/fur material used in the film. Not likely though. Either way, The General will make more than a few collectors kneel and will be a must buy for CBT!

Enough talk! Enjoy the pics below courtesy Hot Toys' Facebook page

Hot Toys delays DX13

Based in reports in the sideshow forums, final flexpay payments for some buyers have been pushed back to November. Though not an official statement, this is the next best thing to an official conformation of the bad news.  Given the string of delays from the Hong long toy manufacturer, its not a total surprise. It's a good thing for us as funds are pretty right at the Cyborg Bunny Warren at the moment. The forums seem to be lit up with dismay and all sorts of questions, complaints, etc.

Delays seem to be a part of toy collecting, but it can be quite disappointing to many. On the other hand, it leaves the door open to buy  other releases that drop between now and November.  What do you think?

Full Reveal of 1/6 General Zod

Hot Toys has revealed their prototype of 1/6 General Zod at ACGHK 2013. Played by the amazing Michael Shannon in the 2013 film, Man of Steel, we see the General in his full battle armour, complete with helmet and his atmospheric breathing filter apparatuses. Hopefully there will be an un-helmeted headsculpt included in the final product along with the cape switched out to the feathered/fur cape from the film.  Regardless, Zod is a personal standout of this year's con and will no doubt be a must have for fans of the movie, myself included. The General will look great next to the upcoming Superman and is definitely on my wish list !

Hot Toys Teases new figures at HKACG

Fresh from SDCC, Hot Toys will be setting up a new booth at HKACG and they've already started the buzz machine with 2 teasers.  The first being another IM3 Tony Stark, this time it's Tony Stark (Mandarin Mansion Assault Version).  Think what you will, but Hot Toys is definitely getting it while the gettin's good!

In other news Hot Toys is also teasing an unnamed new figure. Based in the picture, I'm speculating on Brandon Lee as The Crow. Regardless of the speculation, I'm definitely looking forward to the full reveal!

What do you think of the news?
