Kidrobot Black Murder by Kidrobot x Craww

I've always had a thing for Crows.  Growing up, a family of crows always lived near my house, and after buying my own place, a family took up residence nearby; and so the familiar caw-caw of crows has always been with me.  Last summer, I was fortunate to save an injured baby crow and ever since then, I've taken notice of the ebony bird and it's close relationship to man!  And so, imagine my surprise to see this morose beauty on the Kidrobot blog!

Standing 12" tall, this vinyl statue is limited to 200 pieces, hand numbered, and signed by Craww himself, this figure is accompanied by a small metal cage with a poor lost life. This release has made me take notice of Craww and his crow-listic stylings.  This one will be released on October 24th for $399.99 each.

Before this release, I'd never heard of Craww, but you can be sure I've noticed him and his work now!

"Pretty things in dark places, nasty surprises masquerading in beauty, hidden stories and happy accidents, brought to life with a mix of elegance, balance and disciplined chaos. "

What more need be said?

Kidrobot Black Murder

By Kidrobot X Craww

Melancholic beauty and death cloaked in feathers. A headdress with shiny black eyes and sharp beak is mounted over petite downcast features. Massive hands hold the delicate chest. Bright, shining red escapes through the pointed digits – a sign of life in a sea of black.
In the aftermath of an unknown event stands a 12-inch vinyl statuette. A lost life in a small metal cage lies at her feet with no explanation given.
Limited edition of 200 pieces, each is hand numbered with the artist’s engraved signature on the bottom.
Murder makes its deathly appearance on October 24 and retails for $399.99.

Kidrobot Dunny Evolved Full Series Reveal!

from The Andy Griffith Show to Robocop

The ongoing saga of teasers from the Dunny Evolved series by Kidrobot has finally come to an end!  After weeks of teasers, (all of which we've been following) the full kit 'n kaboodle has been unveiled to the world!  First on the list is the Huck Gee stages, clearly showing the evolution of law enforcement from Barney Fife to to mecha-armored CopRobo (see what I did there)

Space-man to Mer-Man!

Next up.. the legend Frank Kozik showing a more literal take on the evolutionary theme... or is it?  If the order can be of any an inference, mayhaps Kozik is showing us the fall of man and his eventual return to the sea? Taken in this way, I feel the dual order of things can speak volumes on the cycle of nature and the inevitability a return to nature... well played Frank.  Well played.
Party Animal!

Kronk takes a light-hearted approach in his stages and I love it!  The evolution of a party animal from uptight party entrant, to rain making lust machine, to a full on party animal!  I love the sculpt work on the final stage and the way he's injected such fun into his series.
Amp-olution!

McBess's series was the dark horse.  Going completely un-teased, this is the biggest surprise, and I love it.  Showing the evolution of speaker tech, possible guitar amps. Specifically for a music fan, especially a guitar player, this set may hold the most interest.  I love the subtle evolution in design as well.  From a simple painted dunny to a uniquet head unique sculpt!

Enter the Dragon-lotus

Last, but definitely not least, we have the vibrant work of Scott Tolleson's.  It seems he's forgone his trademark argyle and moved in a new direction! These stages have the most, ethereal quality with a sort of fantastical approach.  From what I can guess, it appears to be the the evolution of a lotus and  a possible snap-dragon into a literal sort of Dragon-Lotus.  This one just oozes magic and mystery!

I like this series and the entire concept.  Instead of giving a single artist a single figure platform upon which to work, providing a series of 3 to expand on an idea is a breath of fresh air and allows for some amazing artistic expression!

Now to the meat and potatoes... releasing Ocotober 10th, Kidrobot's "Dunny Evolved," featuring designs by Frank KozikMcBessKronkHuck Gee, and Scott Tolleson, will retial for $10 per blindbox.

Scott Tolleson's Dunny Evolved Plant Stages

I have to admit, I wasn't sure where Scott Tolleson was going with this design. It with this latest reveal, it all comes clear. The subtle lotus design and it's evolution into the next stages is beautiful. I'm quite interested to see the final stage and where Scott will takes us on this plant evolution.

Dunny Evolved by Scott Tolleson

Posted on Kidrobot's site, Scott Tolleson's designs for the Dunny Evolved line has been revealed on their official Facebook page.  I'm going to be honest and here and state that I have no fucking clue what the hell this is.  However, I do like it. It has a sort of Asian lion feel. The second interesting piece is that there is only one silhouette on this teaser vs 2 on the previous Kozik, KRONK, and Huck Gee reveals. Ethereal and mystical combine here in light colors to create what may be a magical series of evolutionary stages.

Dunny Evolved : Huck Gee 2

Revealed on the kidrobot blog, is their next stage of Huck Gee's evolutionary set. Following up his previous teaser, we have the next evolution in his apparent law enforcement theme. I'm a fan of the crisp lines on his work, and this is no exception!  Dunny Evolved is shaping up to be quite a line!

Dunny Evolved teasers continued ... With Huck Gee

Here we go.  Kidrobot has teased the latest design in their Dunny Evolved line. Revealing one  of three stages designed by artist, Huck Gee. This series might be an evolution of some kind of police or military force? At least that's what we're guessing here at CBT, based on the teaser and the silhouettes. So far, I'm really liking the KRONK series best, but they're all great! I'm sure there'll be more teasers and updated up until the Ocotoboer 10th release date. What do you think of the Huck Gee designs?

Dunny Evolved Teaser... Kronk Style Part Two

Hey Big Spenda!

Just as he said, Kronk has delivered the vivid pallette and we here at CBT are impressed!! Foolish of us to doubt Kronk's works!  Posted a few minutes ago on the Kidrobot Facebook page, what can only be called the next stage - devolution almost - of a shy strip club party goer. This party animal is in full swing, bow tie unfurled, drooling, flushed in the face and makin' in rain!  This one is hilarious. We also love the touch of the heart ears!  We're excited at what his 3rd stage will bring.  Stay tuned!

Dunny Evolved Teaser.... Kronk style

The Dunny Evolved saga continues...! Posted recently via Kidrobot's Facebook page, the Kronk stages have begun to be teased. I'm guessing this is the middle, "modern" stage or evolution.  Though I like the idea, I'm not sold on the execution. Kronk's normally vivid color palettes are toned down here. I'm getting a sort of 60's feel with the leisure suit, the sweat and the lady silhouettes. An almost bumbling secret agent vibe  Stay tuned for updates on the next Dunny Evolved reveal!

EDIT:
After tweeting this post, the man KRONK himself replied...

as fans of the Kronk style, CBT has nothing to say except...

Frank Kozik Dunny Devolved Reveal

Today, Kidrobot has brought us a second unveil of their Dunny Evolved line. In line with their previous teaser, they've released what we're speculating is the initial stage of his 3 stage design. The 3rd "future" design was previously teased, leaving the 2nd "modern" the final mystery.  From the remaining silhouette we're speculating a mohawked 70's style punk.

None of the other artists have released teasers, but we feel its only matter of time

Frank Kozik teases Dunny Evolved design

This just in! Posted on Frank Kozik's Facebook page 15 minutes ago is a photo of one if his designs for the new Dunny Evolved series coming in October. This collector is guessing it will be his final stage of a figure evolution.  I'm curious to know what the apparatus in the little toy's left hand is. Maybe a jet pack like the Locodonta or maybe something even more 70's outrageous!

Dunny Evolved *sneak peek* shhh

Recently posted in the Kidrobot blog, a sneak peek of the new blind box series 'Dunny Evolved' has been announced. Five upper echelon particular artists have been selected to depict three stages of evolution of a figure. Who are the select top tier toy transmuters selected to transform the dunny platform?  None other than Frank KozikMcBessKronkHuck Gee, & Scott Tolleson! The deets on the figure platform haven't been released, but I'm speculating on DIY figure evolved into a Dunny.  I'm hoping each artist's offering will be available as a set, or at the least bundled together based on respective stage.  I'm really feeling the Daft Punk vibe and I'm eager to see the final stage designs.  The series releases October 10th, and hopefully more info will be provided between now and then!

Kidrobot is releasing a brand new bot release and its right up my alley... GUNDAM style!!!  Following in line with the legendary giant robot and Bandai's own toy line, Kidrobot's new mascot, the DamGun 'Bots are a model kit!  Each mascot comes with snap together armour, shields sword, and decals. Normally I'm not a big fan of decals, but since its a staple of Bandai Gundam kits its not a big deal to me.

Kidrobot teamed up with design house, ilovedust to create thir next collaboration, The Dunnibal!  This 8" dunny has bloody amazing paintwork detail.  The dunny depicts a beastly creature devouring another to a gruesome effect.  The detail looks intricate and eye catching. I think it will look great next to my Colus dunny!  This beastly 8" Dunny gnashes its way into store shelves on September 26th at kidrobot stores, online and select designer toys stores worldwide with an MSRP of $75

Pyramidun by Andrew Bell x Kidrobot

Kidrobot has revealed their new Pyramidun collaboration with Andrew Bell. It appears the Pyramid head has 3 rotating tiers enabling a myriad of combinations to create a different face!  I'm a fan of Andrew Bell's sculpts and I really like how he's taken the Dunny platform and created something familiar yet completely different.

From the Kidrobot Pyramidun Webpage:

Here’s some pretentious art-speak about the concept:

In the hands of hundreds of artists and customizers, the Dunny has constantly and repeatedly evolved into a new and exciting, yet familiar object. The Pyramidun pays tribute to the versatility of the design, while simultaneously removing itself from the base form that has defined it. It’s multi-faceted form invites the collector to create their own combination reflective of their style, mood or environment.” -Andrew Bell

Ever evolving, Pyramidun Dunny is 16 Dunnys in one. A three-part pyramid replaces the iconic two-eared head, creating a figure of a different form. Each “face” of the pyramid has a different graphic – by turning each level of the pyramid, a new image appears. A tribute to the versatility of design, this 3-inch figure brings Dunny to a new dimension. Customization is truly at your fingertips.

Dunny transforms August 15 at Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com, and select retailers. Pyramidun Dunny retails for $14.99 US
